Louisville, Kentucky (March 14, 2008) - A previously-owned International 4300 medium-duty commercial truck joined the Kentucky Harvest team to pick up and deliver food to those who are hungry throughout Metro Louisville and the surrounding areas.
Navistar International Corporation, the company that manufactures the International brand of commercial trucks, presented the donated vehicle to Kentucky Harvest founder Stan Curtis in the name of The Cup Experience at a press conference hosted this morning by Metro Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson at Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville.
"We are pleased to know that one of our medium-duty trucks will be going to ultimately assist those in need," said David Johanneson, Navistar executive vice president of sales, marketing and distribution. "We are proud to support the Kentucky Harvest and the people of Kentucky."
The International 4300 Low Profile truck features a lower platform for improved driver entry and egress, as well as easier access to cargo. It is equipped with an International DT466 engine and a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission. The truck maintains a 14-foot clearance and 25,500-pound gross vehicle weight.
"This event marks the first charitable donation generated by The Cup Experience," Abramson said. "We appreciate the generosity of Navistar, joining the well-establish spirit of giving and caring in our community by supporting Kentucky Harvest."
"It's all about the food," Curtis said. "Through the generosity of Navistar, the staff and volunteers of Kentucky Harvest will be more efficient at picking up food that might otherwise go to waste and feeding hungry people in the Commonwealth of Kentucky."
Through the charitable donation, International becomes the official truck of The Cup Experience.

The Host Committee created The Cup Experience, a not-for-profit organization that will design ways for local and regional businesses, local citizens and out-of-town visitors to participate in a community and statewide celebration, regardless of whether they have tickets to the Ryder Cup. The focus will be on presenting memorable hospitality; creating, promoting and managing a series of activities, entertainment, and golf-related events; and providing a platform for businesses and individuals to make connections through golf. The Cup Experience will own and operate The Fightmaster Cup, The Cup Zone, The Cup Village and the Soiree Under the Spires, and will promote new and existing activities including The Commonwealth Cup, The Cup Concert Celebration, A Taste of Louisville, An Evening with Butch Harmon, Louisville Irish Fest, Kentucky Show, Gaslight Festival, the Bourbon Festival, WorldFest and the Ursuline Campus Art Fair.
