Kentucky Monthly has been named Official State Magazine of The Cup Experience, a series of community and state-wide events and activities that will be coordinated by the Mayor's 2008 Louisville Host Committee and take place during the 2008 Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup pits the best US professional golfers against their European counterparts and will be held September 16-21, 2008, at Valhalla Golf Club In Louisville.

The announcement was made today by Louisville Host Committee Chairman Stan Curtis.

"The Cup Experience will encompass activities open to all residents of Kentucky and Southern Indiana, as well as the thousands of visitors who descend upon our community in September 2008, " Curtis said. "It is vital that our Committee reaches out to the entire Commonwealth and conveys the magnitude of the Ryder Cup and describes the Cup Experience events that will take place in Louisville and around Kentucky. No publication does that better than Kentucky Monthly, which reaches all 120 counties in the State."

Kentucky Monthly is an independent, features-oriented magazine about Kentucky and Kentuckians. For more information contact Stephen M. Vest, publisher/editor at steve@kentuckymonthly.com or call (888) 329-0053.

"With all of the fine publications in the Commonwealth, for Kentucky Monthly to be selected to be a part of this international event is an absolute honor," said Vest. "Kentucky Monthly's goal has always been to present the best Kentucky has to offer, which is also the aim of the host committee. We're thrilled to be able to play a part."

Developed and managed by the Mayor's Louisville 2008 Host Committee, The Cup Experience will have four anchor events: The Cup Zone, an interactive experience for both children and adults, for both golfers and casual fans, held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville; The Cup Village, a signature meeting place at Fourth Street Live! with music and other festivities; The Fightmaster Cup, the first-ever international competition pitting North American's best one-armed golfers against their European counterparts; The Soiree Under the Spires, a ticketed event that will provide a special evening of entertainment, dining and other activities at Churchill Downs. Additional Cup Experience activities will be added to the official list of events leading up to the 2008 Ryder Cup. For more information go to www.thecupexperience.com.
